It's a New Thing

1. What is a DTF transfer?

DTF stands for Direct To Film. This technique involves printing your design directly onto a film and then transferring it to a T-shirt made of cotton, polyester, or their blends, regardless of their color, as it can work with white ink.

2. What is needed to print DTF transfers?

  • Direct to Film Printer.

  • DTF Film (DTF Transfer Film)

  • DTF Powder.

  • DTF Station Hot Melt Powder for Direct to Film.

  • DTF Ink.

  • Heat Press.

3. How long do DTF transfers last? Generally speaking, DTF transfers can last for several washings, depending on the care instructions provided by the transfer manufacturer. Some transfer manufacturers recommend that you turn the shirt inside out before washing and that you avoid using bleach. This can help prolong the life of the transfer.

4. How are DTF transfers different from HTV transfers?

The simple reason is that HTV involves cutting vinyl sheets into the desired design, while DTF prints the design onto the transfer film with a printer and inks. Moreover, DTF transfer film is transparent on both sides, while vinyl has one colored side while the other side is the adhesive carrier.

5. Are DTF transfers better than sublimation? A DTF printer works well for all types of colors whether light or dark. In contrast, the best fabric colors to print on a sublimation printer are light colors. But, sublimation will not work well with designs that have white within them as it cannot produce this color.

6. Is DTF better than vinyl?

DTF prints are more durable than vinyl or screen-printed designs. The ink is actually bonded to the fabric, so it won't crack, peel, or fade like other methods. DTF prints can also withstand multiple washes without losing their color or quality.

7. Can DTF transfers go on any color shirt?

No color restrictions. DTF transfers work well with both light and dark-colored garments, making them perfect for sportswear and leisurewear.

8. What is the downside of DTF?

One of the potential drawbacks of DTF printing is the initial setup and investment required. Compared to traditional printing methods, DTF printing requires specialized equipment, including a DTF printer, a heat press, and film rolls.
